Holden offers a variety of training options for graduate students.
Together with the University of Iowa and the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center offers graduate students a collaborative environment to tackle the complex challenges of cancer and cancer care. Graduate students have the opportunity to learn from nationally recognized researchers and clinicians, enabling them to specialize in various areas, broaden their knowledge, and contribute to advancements in cancer prevention, detection, and treatment.

Cancer Biology Program
The Cancer Biology Program at the University of Iowa is the first of its kind at the university.
We are a graduate program in biomedical science, preparing students for a variety of career paths in academic, clinical, and industry environments dealing with the study and/or treatment of cancer.
Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program
The Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program is a unique, storied PhD-granting program within the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
We provide graduate students the opportunity to study cancer biology and other major human diseases through a unique curriculum developed to advance redox biology through translational biomedical research and vice versa.
T32 Programs Funding Cancer Trainees at Iowa
Funding for graduate studies is essential. Trainees in Holden-affiliated labs receive support through 15 different NIH T32 training grants, including:
