FAQs
How much funding is available?
The maximum funding request is $30,000. This funding opportunity is pending availability of funds. The total number and dollar amount of grant awards is dependent on funds available, and the number and scope of proposals submitted. Projects are funded for one year, but you may apply for additional funding in future cycles.
Where can I find an evidence-based intervention (EBI)?
Check out interventions from The Community Guide or Evidence-Based Cancer Control Programs (EBCCP) to find a program that has proven to be effective if implemented correctly.
I don’t know any researchers affiliated with Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. How can I find a collaborator?
Please e-mail Megan Schmidt (megan-e-schmidt@uiowa.edu) for help identifying a potential collaborator. We will need specific information about what type of collaboration or support you are looking for. The process will take some time, and we cannot guarantee that we can find a collaborator for all projects. If we cannot find a collaborator for your specific project, you will not be invited to complete a full application.
Do I need letters of support?
Yes, a letter of support is required from each collaborator listed on your application. Each letter of support should include the collaborator’s title and organization, how the collaborator will contribute to or support your project, how the project aligns with the collaborator’s priorities/goals/work, and the collaborator’s endorsement.
Who will be reviewing and scoring grant applications?
Grant applications will be reviewed and scored by Holden researchers and by members of the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Advisory Board. Final funding decisions will be made by the COE team, guided by an average review score.
